University of Melbourne research reveals shocking number of students caught vaping


Nearly half of high school staff have caught kids with e-cigarettes on school grounds at least once a month, alarming new research on the impact of the vaping scourge in Australian schools has revealed.


The national study of educators’ perceptions of e-cigarettes in secondary schools also found one-third of principals (36 per cent) reported suspending or expelling students for possessing or puffing on a vape at least monthly — while 12 per cent said they suspended students weekly.


And a vast majority of school staff — 93 per cent — reported that vaping was a growing problem in high schools.
