A West Australian baby is recovering after being struck down by the potentially deadly meningococcal disease, the latest in a wave of new infections across the country.

Health officials reported on Wednesday afternoon that the infant had been diagnosed with meningococcal serogroup B disease and is “currently recovering”.
Symptoms of the disease include high fever, chills, headache, neck stiffness, nausea and vomiting, muscle and joint pains and a rash.
